Our Sustainability Practices
Pioneers in Green Building Since 1974
Long before green building became a trend, Acorn Deck House Company was pioneering environmentally conscientious home design. Since 1974, our homes have been designed with a focus on energy efficiency, passive solar benefits, durability, and responsible use of materials.
Today, that expertise continues through our Net Zero Ready approach. Our homes are designed with a highly efficient building envelope, thoughtful solar orientation, energy-efficient windows and doors, and construction methods that help reduce energy use and waste.
A Net Zero Ready home is designed to provide an exceptionally efficient foundation for achieving net zero energy performance. By combining energy-efficient construction with renewable energy systems such as solar, homeowners can take the next step toward producing as much energy as their home consumes.
How We Build Green
Our Sustainable Building Practices
01
Siting your home for maximum energy efficiency
02
Designing for economical use of space, natural lighting and passive solar benefits, including window glazing and overhangs
03
Employing efficient framing techniques
04
Incorporating sustainable materials, including Glulam engineered wood beams that are stronger, more durable, and more sustainable than conventional timber
05
Net-Zero Ready homes, two recent projects achieved net positive HERS ratings using our methods and on-site renewables
06
Minimizing waste and recycling scrap during the manufacturing process and on site during construction
Net Zero Ready
Designed for a More Energy-Efficient Future
Our homes are built around the principles that make net zero energy performance possible, combining a highly efficient building envelope with passive solar design, thoughtful home orientation, and reduced energy demand. With a Net Zero Ready home, the foundation for exceptional energy efficiency is built into the design and construction from the start, helping create a home that uses less energy while providing lasting comfort and performance. Renewable energy systems, such as solar, can then be incorporated to help offset the home's remaining energy consumption. Whether your goal is to reduce energy use, improve long-term efficiency, or move toward net zero energy, Acorn Deck House Company brings decades of sustainable building expertise to creating a home designed for a more energy-efficient future.
