About Acorn Deck House

Acorn Structures was founded by Carl Koch and John Bemis with a goal to create a prefabricated alternative to traditional building methods — producing less waste and taking advantage of post-war materials.

William Berkes and Robert Brownell left Techbuilt to found Deck House — introducing their signature exposed post and beam structure, mahogany windows, and tongue-and-groove cedar ceiling decking.

After decades of friendly rivalry, Acorn Structures and Deck House merged under the name Deck House, Inc. — continuing to manufacture both beloved brands under one roof.

Tom and Ann Trudeau brought the company out of receivership and rebuilt it from the ground up — returning to its roots, investing in state-of-the-art equipment, and renaming it Acorn Deck House Company.

Acorn Deck House Company launches a full rebrand — a renewed commitment to the craft, quality, and vision that has defined the company for nearly 80 years.
